NILAM Companion Privacy Policy

NILAM Companion is a browser extension that works with the NILAM Book Assistant desktop application to help users transfer prepared book details into the AINS NILAM Portal.

Information Handled by the Extension

The extension may handle book record information prepared by the user in the NILAM Book Assistant desktop application, including:

• book title
• author
• publisher
• publication year
• page count
• ISBN
• category and language
• synopsis or abstract
• moral value or reading reflection
• optional book cover image
• local submission status

How the Information Is Used

NILAM Companion uses this information only to fill supported fields on the AINS NILAM Portal at the user's request. Users remain responsible for reviewing and submitting information in the portal.

Local Desktop Communication

The extension communicates with the locally running NILAM Book Assistant desktop application through http://127.0.0.1:17641. This local bridge is used to receive selected book details, cover images, queue information, and local submission updates.

AINS Portal Access

The extension runs only on the AINS NILAM Portal domain, https://ains.moe.gov.my, so it can detect supported fields and place prepared book information into the form. It does not run on unrelated websites.

Troubleshooting and Page Capture

If the user chooses troubleshooting or page capture features, the extension may send visible AINS page structure and field information to the local desktop application to help diagnose field detection or upload issues.

Data Sharing

NILAM Companion does not sell user data, does not use user data for advertising, and does not transfer user data to third-party analytics or advertising services.

Data is exchanged only between the browser extension, the locally running NILAM Book Assistant desktop application, and the AINS NILAM Portal page opened by the user.

Data Not Collected

NILAM Companion does not collect payment information, health information, precise location, personal communications, or general browsing history.

User Control

The extension is intended to assist with data entry. Users can review filled information before submitting it in the AINS NILAM Portal. Automatic submission features, when used, require user interaction or confirmation from the companion workflow.
